Frantic travelers really have no time for the minutia of life. Therefore, no blog. Sorry!! Our day in Venice was perfect! The day dawned bright and clear with nary a cloud in the sky. Duane proceeded to get Paula and Betty lost in the back streets of Venice, which of course, was his plan all along. There is NO better day than getting lost in the back streets of Venice. Chris had stayed back in his room to put his body back together and this left Duane on his own with the Hamilton girls. . . Life is Good! We eventually catch the Vaporetto (Water Bus) back to the hotel and rescue Chris from his self imposed sentence. . . . . He’s better!! Lunch was engaged on the waterfront. (Actually, everything is on the waterfront in Venice) and then we catch the #1 vaporetto to tour the Grand Canal. . . Now really, it doesn’t get any better than this. I would try and describe this, but I can’t. Sorry! Today is some sort of Venetian Holiday and so all the locals are out and about as well. Add this to the usual throngs of tourists and things start to get clogged up. We catch the #41 bus to Murano to watch some glass blowers only to find that all the glass blowers are on Holiday. . . . . . . . . Whoops! Should have known that!! No matter. It was a glorious 2 hour boat ride. . . . Well actually, it was a very strenuous ride as everyone else wanted to go to Murano too. We sit. We stand. We sit. We Stand. We hang on for our Lives. It is actually worse than I describe, but we do survive and arrive back to the designated vaporetto stop unscathed. Dinner turns on Duane’s plan to get everyone lost again. He largely succeeds, but dinner turns out to be average and the team is ready for sleep. We Sleep.
This morning is Bright and Clear as we catch the 7:50 AM #42 Vaporetto to the Ferrovia train station. Today we will train it to Florence, meet our tour guide, Alesandro, and head for Tuscany. We will try for lunch in Greve in Chianti . . . (You’ll remember that Tasha!) Then we will tour Tuscany before arrival in Siena, our home for 2 nights. Will try and post some pictures, but that will depend on our Wi-Fi hookup.
